Walks Schedule“ B” walking trips occur most Sundays in the year and “A” walking trips take place every second Sunday. “A” walking trips are to areas where there are Munros or Corbetts or walks of similar degrees of difficulty. In the winter, these walks are only for experienced walkers. “B” walking trips are to areas where the level of difficulty is somewhat less arduous. All departure times are from Each trip has a nominated contact person and the programme outlines the walk that he or she is intending to do. However, the contact person for the day is not a designated walk leader – the club has no trained walk leaders. He or she helps to arrange transport to the day’s destination and will be responsible for organising the re-imbursement of drivers on the cost sharing basis outlined later in the programme. Walkers’ ResponsibilitiesWalkers intending to join “A” walking trips in the winter programme must phone the contact person and enquire about conditions and equipment necessary. All walkers are individually responsible for their own safety on trips. They should also be familiar with the recommended equipment set out in the Club website. All walkers who are Club members should carry the card issued with emergency contact details. They should already have assessed their level of fitness. They should also know that they are capable of coping with walking in the designated area. However, in keeping with the friendly nature of the Club, it is good practice for individuals not to break off from the rest of the group without first discussing it with the rest of the party. Accidents can occur no matter how easy the terrain or benign the conditions. The consequences can be serious if walking alone. Any decisions regarding stops and changes of route will be decided by the group as a whole. Where the pace of the party is likely to result in separation, this should be limited as far as possible to two groups. Especially in winter conditions, no individual member of the party should be split from the group. Contact Persons’ Responsibilities
